At least 12 passengers killed, 19 injured after Plateau youths ambush Kaduna-bound bus
A group of youths in Plateau State attacked a bus traveling to Kaduna for a wedding, leaving atleast 12 passengers dead and injuring 19 others. The incident occurred early this morning on Kyarang junction in Manjul community of Mangu Local Government Area,
as the vehicle made its way through their community.
According to eyewitnesses, the attackers armed with sticks and locally made weapons—ambushed the bus, opening the doors and attacking passengers indiscriminately. “They targeted people at random, dragging them from the bus and beating them,” one survivor recounted.
Emergency services and local police arrived within minutes, transporting the wounded to nearby hospitals in Plateau and Kaduna States. Law enforcement officers have launched an investigation, and several suspects are currently in custody.
Plateau State’s governor condemned the attack in a statement, promising that perpetrators would face swift justice. He urged citizens to remain calm and assist security agencies with credible information.
Officials are also working to secure the highway, amid fears of further violence. Commuters between Plateau and Kaduna have been advised to take extra precautions until normalcy is restored.
