The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the prime suspect in the murder of a 22-year-old housewife, Mrs. Rumaisa Haruna.
Mrs. Haruna was brutally murdered in her matrimonial home located in Tsamiyar Duhuwa, Farawa Quarters, Kano, on April 6, 2025. She was reportedly found by her husband, Ibrahim Mohammed, lying in a pool of blood with deep neck wounds. Although she was rushed to the hospital immediately, she was pronounced dead on arrival.In a statement issued on Tuesday, the spokesperson for the Kano State Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Kiyawa, announced that the suspect, Shu’aibu Abdulkadir, 35, a resident of Madatai Quarters, was arrested last Friday after several weeks of intensive, intelligence-led investigation.
According to the police, Abdulkadir has confessed to the crime, admitting that he strangled and stabbed Mrs. Haruna in the neck, resulting in her death.
The statement further revealed that the suspect is currently in police custody as investigations continue to determine the motive behind the attack and to identify any potential accomplices.
The police have assured that the suspect will be formally charged in court once the investigation is completed.Commending the dedication and professionalism of the investigating officers, the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Bakori, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the case. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of residents.
“The Commissioner urges members of the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station,” the statement concluded.
