Akpabio Forecasts APC Landslide in Akwa Ibom LG Ahead of 2027
The President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed strong confidence that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will record a landslide victory in Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State during the 2027 general elections.
Akpabio made this statement shortly after the emergence of new APC local government party officers through a peaceful consensus process in the area. He noted that traditional rulers, stakeholders, and community leaders in Essien Udim have openly reaffirmed their support for President Bola Tinubu and Akwa Ibom State Governor Umo Eno ahead of the next election cycle.
According to the Senate President, the endorsement by local leaders shows growing grassroots support for the APC in the region. He urged the newly elected party executives to maintain unity within the party and continue strengthening the APC’s political structure at the grassroots level.
Speaking further, Akpabio said the people of Essien Udim have once again shown loyalty to President Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno, adding that this is not the first time such endorsement has taken place in the area. He described the development as a significant political signal as Nigeria gradually moves towards the 2027 general elections.
He also revealed that based on the current voter registration data, Essien Udim Local Government Area is capable of delivering over 180,000 votes for the APC in 2027. He described the recent party exercise in the council as peaceful and successful, expressing satisfaction with the outcome.
Akpabio thanked Governor Umo Eno for maintaining a peaceful political atmosphere in Akwa Ibom State, stating that stability in governance would help the APC consolidate its support base in the region before the next election.
