Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has taken a swipe at the current administration of President Bola Tinubu, describing the federal cabinet as bloated and lacking in capable hands.

Speaking candidly, El-Rufai expressed relief over not being included in the current team, stating:

Honestly, I thank God every day that I’m not part of this. The embarrassment would have been unbearable. Just watching how poorly things are being handled things I understood clearly even when I was at the BPE it’s obvious they can’t manage governance effectively.

When asked whether his frustration was rooted in being dropped from a ministerial list, he dismissed the suggestion, instead emphasizing his disappointment with the performance of the administration.

Every time I wake up and see what this government is doing the hardship they’re creating, and how even the most basic things are being mismanaged I feel nothing but relief. It’s not about being left out; it’s about not having to defend failure. That’s a blessing. El-Rufai also reflected on what he had expected from the Tinubu presidency.

I Thank God I Wasn’t Part of This Mess. Elrufai

If there was one thing I thought President Tinubu would get right, it was assembling a strong, competent team. But this is the largest cabinet in our history, and unfortunately, most of the names don’t inspire confidence. In my era even 20 years ago we had standout ministers. Where’s the equivalent of a Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala or an Oby Ezekwesili in today’s cabinet? Honestly, I can count maybe five people who look like they know what they’re doing.
