NDLEA Arrests Multiple Drug Suspects, Seizes Illicit Substances Worth Over N9 Billion
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested several individuals in connection with major drug trafficking operations across Nigeria, following a series of intelligence-led investigations and interdictions.
According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, two intending pilgrims, Ibrahim Umar Mustapha and Muhammad Siraj Shifado, were arrested on Monday, May 26, at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport during outbound clearance for Ethiopian Airlines flight ET 940 to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The arrest was based on credible intelligence. Upon scanning, both suspects were found to have ingested illicit substances, Babafemi said. They were placed under excretion observation and eventually expelled 45 wraps of cocaine each, totaling 90 pellets weighing 1.04kg.
